Mastering Stellar Mesh design with OmniVista

Groupe_887Jul. 14, 2022
We have already presented the installation of a meshing at home in a previous article, in Express mode with OmniAccess Stellar Wi-Fi 5 access points connected from the Internet box. The extension of the corporate network with Stellar wireless mesh topologies is now managed with OmniVista 2500 for Enterprise deployments including a meshing. The OmniVista mode is particularly suitable for the complete management of the various functionalities that are available on the OmniAccess Stellar Wi-Fi 6 access points AP13XX.
The Stellar Bridging/Multi-meshing allows two configurations; a point-to-point Bridge configuration and a multi-point star configuration with traffic possible on both 2.4GHz/5GHz bands for remote Wi-Fi clients.

OmniAccess Stellar Wi-Fi 6 Access Points

OmniAccess Stellar Wi-Fi 6 Access Points offer versatility for Bridging/Multi-meshing solutions, meshing is easy to implement and at the same time addresses the main use cases found in the Enterprise when extending the corporate network and WLAN coverage with wireless meshing.

Outdoor Access Points AP1361/1362/1361D Designed for specific deployments (e.g., urban, terrains or campgrounds) or for demanding industrial environments (e.g., factories/warehouses etc.) they offer various options at remote sites such as additional downlink ports on the APs and local PoE power for remote equipment. AP1361/1362/1361D are also equipped with an SFP port for long distance LAN connectivity over the fiber.

Different installations, with different antennas and accessories designed for outdoors, are supported with AP1361/1362/1361D access points.

AP1301 and AP1320 Series Indoor Access Points. Starting with the entry-level AP1301 model, the AP13XX series brings performance, connectivity, and the latest technology to the latest Wi-Fi 6 clients. The AP1322 access point, for example, with the use of external omni-directional antennas, allows the deployment of efficient indoor mesh links and the extension of coverage into hard-to-reach parts of buildings.

OmniVista 2500 release 4.6

The OmniAccess Stellar Bridging/Multi-meshing solution can now be fully managed in Enterprise mode with OmniVista 2500 release 4.6 (and in OV Cirrus mode too). From a group of APs already managed by OmniVista, you simply identify the APs to be included in a meshing configuration and define their roles within the meshing. The Enterprise mode with OmniVista allows to:

  • Define a group of APs for meshing with a simple and secure mesh
  • Duplicate the root AP with a simple addition of a root AP on the LAN
  • Manage a specific RF profile for the mesh group
  • Ensure the management of each node in the mesh group
  • Transport different VLANs to the remote nodes
  • Manage SSIDs to be broadcasted to remote sites
  • Manage QoS for Wi-Fi clients on each node
  • Manage downlink ports and power some local PoE equipment
  • Supervise each node and each mesh links

A turnkey solution with survey

A survey is essential to validate the deployment and performance of the links particularly for outdoor deployments, and especially for Bridge configurations or meshing topologies with very distant links.

ALE PRO Services systematically offer several designs supports services for business partners, distributors, or carriers. In particular, a site RF survey can be carried out using professional tools (use of the Ekahau PRO Wi-Fi survey tool for example) and also on-site analysis can be provided, with a design review.
