Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise Integration with Salesforce

We have an Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise PBX with a PRA installed. Separately we have Salesforce CRM, primarily Service Cloud. Our target is integrating Alcatel with Saleforce CRM. Any idea how this can be achieved apart from installing a CTI within Salesforce?

You need a connector able to exchange state/info between the OXE and SFDC. Can you explain what ALE Rainbow Connector with SFDC is and why it is required?
